HumanCar Imagine PS PHEV bionic hybrid takes on Volt & Leaf
“Power agnostic before it was cool”
DEEP FOREST OREGON – Reeling in the size and scope of a recent worldwide press run, Chuck Greenwood CEO of HumanCar® Inc. sits back and says, “the data is very revealing, when we look at 3 million views in one month and we see large amounts of a wide variety of demographics in literally every corner of the world, the thirst for something not computer generated or hype based but real is large. People the world over want everything the Imagine PS represents.” Designed by Charles Greenwood P.E. the HumanCar has become the visual representation of “the future” and was the subject of a Japanese TV report about innovation. The message on the global scale is this small and extremely creative engineering/design firm is shaking up the proverbial tree.
What is all the fuss? The innovative company recently placed the entire automotive and design community on notice with a media and press run that included Forbes calling “the next offering may not be from Toyota or GM but HumanCar” and the International Business Times reprinting the facts about a mobile power station disguised as an electric car with the world’s most powerful human interface. CNET, MSN, Yahoo, YouTube, each featured the videos and Discovery online article on their home-pages respectively.
“In one respect we are social engineers as well as hard science engineers. The message we are sending to respondent people worldwide is one of a future of efficiency and non-dependence of fossils and the notion a vehicle may be designed to last 100 years. The concept that motor and battery, in fact any power system may be upgraded to an almost indestructible chassis. The Imagine PS is the platform for many new vehicles and the pathway to a vehicle revolution much like the Model T. The DNA from the Model T is in your car and the DNA of the Imagine PS will be in your great-grandchildren’s vehicles. Our open standards is like open source software, we lay out the foundation and others may improve if they can.”
The industrial design firm HumanCar Inc. has deep automotive roots in the top levels of motorsports racing and currently shows its 300kph research vehicle to film crews such as Galileo from Germany last week on location in Deep Forest, Oregon at a HumanCar facility. It also has a fully manual version developed as a ‘geometry mule’ and test best for developing nation assistance vehicles. They may be adapted to create electricity and pump water, the applications are currently developed under the HumanCar.org division. The company has one primary focus and that is the Imagine PS PHEV, especially with the LMV and under 800 lb. vehicles like Edison2. “We are 200lbs under Edison2 and the chassis for the Imagine PS weighs only 163 lbs with the steel watts linkages” says Mr. Greenwood, “we are seeing the large scale comprehension of our project from the very top levels, exotic clones of the number one vehicle are under production and we are working with definitive out of the box distribution scenarios for the first 20 units. The Imagine PS proves itself as a quick, efficient, fun and practical alternative to the current methods which are not only obsolete but involve heavy ‘true costs’ such as resource dependence and poor health.”
“Going from a cottage industry slash privately funded research and design firm to an international manufacturing and licensing authority will still be based on the principles of having fun being just as important and saving money, the planet, resources, time and adding valuable health to yourself and family. These benefits are all a part of the big payback that the technology my father brings to the world. When you operate one of these cars for the first time it hits you: this is how people of the future will get around.”
As a part of a 200 year business plan from HumanCar, the vehicles all are designed to be compatible with what the company calls a ‘SyncGuideway’ an ultra light rail system which the vehicles may fit on to. The grid then may power the vehicles as well as the ability for the vehicle to actually power the grid, a process known as V2G or vehicle to grid. When larger scale photovoltaic panels are integrated into the parking structures the circuit is “very efficient with the benefit of a healthy population and economic freedom associated with the zero-use of fossil fuels”, Mr. Greenwood says, “you and your family will power yourselves to the store and back. Get ready for some exciting hardware.”
